Great question Hugh — and good choice considering CUTEK® Extreme CD50 for your shiplap cladding!

In most cases, Extreme CD50 on its own is all you need. It penetrates deep into the timber and gives great long-term protection against moisture, warping and splitting, and perfect for exterior cladding.

The only time we’d suggest using CUTEK® Wood Preservative first is if the timber is prone to rot, mould or insect attack (usually softer or less durable species). If you’re using a naturally durable hardwood or the cladding won’t be in a high-risk environment, CD50 should do the job on its own.

We are happy to discuss it further if you call us at 1300 1 CUTEK and speak to Geoff.

Thanks, Geoff

I am considering using Cutek Extreme CD50 to paint ship lap which will clad the outside of the house. Should Cutek preservative be a part of the application or do I just use Cutek Extreme CD 50? Thanks
