Being sustainable or green has become a slogan, but at CUTEK® it is part of our DNA. The very purpose for the creation of CUTEK® products was to maximise the service life of timber. It is a simple equation: extension of the service life of timber = less trees cut down as their replacement.
CUTEK® products are also manufactured with the use of high-grade recycled raw materials and renewable resources where possible, which decreases waste stream and incinerations. Our internal systems are paperless, and have been since 2012 and we recycle manufacturing materials.
CUTEK® is committed to formulating products with lower Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). This means more protective components penetrate and STAY permanently in the coated timber and less VOCs are released into the environment than many of our direct competitor’s products.
Beyond these internal measures, CUTEK® also gives back. We are champions for the ecological use and long-term protection of timber. We are partnered with One Tree Planted and plant 1 tree for every can of CUTEK® timber oil sold worldwide. At CUTEK® sustainability isn’t a slogan, it is in our DNA.

We continually go above and beyond to source sustainable raw materials in our effort to create high performance and environmentally responsible coatings that ACTUALLY WORK.
We are always looking for ways to minimise our manufacturing carbon footprint. CUTEK® products are manufactured with the use of high-grade recycled raw materials and renewable resources, which decreases waste streams and incinerations.
CUTEK® also recycles many other manufacturing materials such as pallets, drums and cardboard. This leads to a significant reduction in waste and reduces raw material requirements, indirectly reducing natural resource requirements.
Our CUTEK® internal systems are paperless, and have been since 2012. We try, in every way, to reduce or eradicate, unnecessary waste.
Vocs – why volatile organic compounds matter
CUTEK® is committed to formulating products with lower Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). With CUTEK®, more protective components penetrate and STAY permanently in the coated timber. A VOC number quantifies the amount of volatile organic compounds that are released from a coating into the environment as it dries.
CUTEK® timber oils typically contain 20-30% VOC’s whereas many competitor products contain VOC’s at the 50-60% level.
Our CUTEK® lab is continually working to use the best raw materials, in an environmentally sustainable way. That includes making sure that our products are as low in VOC content as possible.
Maximising the service life of timber
We have always been, and always will be, champions for the ecological use and long-term protection of timber, the most natural resource in the building industry.
The whole reason for the creation of CUTEK® products, was to maximise the service life of timber.
Proven high performance penetrating oil/stabiliser with a unique self healing effect that works from the inside out to control moisture, and minimise warping, cupping and splitting. CUTEK® Extreme CD50 improves the service life, and enhances the natural beauty of your timber.
Oil based wood stabiliser used for the pretreatment and remedial treatment of exterior wood in industrial and domestic situations. CUTEK® Wood Preservative coated wood resists damage caused by fungal decay, mould, termites and moisture, improving dimensional stability and minimising warping, cupping and splitting. APVMA Approval No: 83026/131898
At CUTEK®, we are all about the timber. Timber brings colour, warmth, depth and beauty to any project. CUTEK® products offer long-term, powerful protection for timber while highlighting its natural warmth, feel and beauty.
CUTEK® timber oils have been independently tested and are proven to offer powerful, long-term protection, cost effective maintenance and dimensional stability improvements that stand up to the most extreme environments. For over 30-years and across many countries, CUTEK® is the trusted name in wood protection.
Superior Mode Of Action
Traditional varnish and natural oil ‘penetrating’ type coatings work by forming a protective film on the surface of the wood to protect against moisture damage. Over time, UV light as well as liquid and gas phase moisture induced timber movement, break down this film causing it to degrade, flake or peel. This allows water to get into the wood which can lead to cupping, warping, splitting and rot. Rectification is costly and time consuming as the old coating will need to stripped away before reapplying.
CUTEK® is different. CUTEK® timber oils penetrate deep into the wood core and drive moisture out of the wood from the inside. This offers superior long-term protection and minimises cupping, warping and splitting. This penetrating oil technology ensures the longest possible service life for your timber and has been proven to work and independently tested by industry experts in many countries over the last 30 years.
Self-Healing Effect
CUTEK® wood finishes work differently to traditional wood stain/wood oil/acrylic/urethane/natural oils/wood coating products in that CUTEK® protects your timber from the inside out. CUTEK® penetrates deeply into the wood core upon application, protecting it from the damaging effects of liquid and gas phase water, significantly increasing the service life of your timber. It does this by remaining PERMANENTLY MOBILE inside the wood, migrating to any cut or perforation with a self-healing action.
Many opposition products claim to be a penetrating oil finish; however, they often contain a mixture of solvents, polymers and cross-linking natural oils (such as linseed and tung oils) that penetrate only a few millimetres before drying to form an encapsulating type varnish. Because these coatings do not have a self-healing effect, once this varnish is exposed to the weather, water can quickly enter the core of the timber especially if it has been cut or perforated with fasteners leading to a rapid loss of dimensional stability. Additionally, the use of some natural oils in wood coatings can contribute to the development of unsightly mould and fungal growth underneath subsequently applied coatings. This situation can be difficult and costly to fix.
CUTEK® Oil = TRUE PENETRATION AND MIGRATION WITH SELF HEALING
NOTE: Coatings that are not permanently mobile inside the wood and do not exhibit the self-healing effect ARE NOT the same as CUTEK® no matter what is claimed. Our first priority is always to extend and maximise the service life of timber NOT to steer you into the ecosystem of our other products.
INTERIOR TIMBER
At CUTEK® we love timber and create products that highlight the natural colour, grain and beauty of wood. CUTEK® Interior is an almost invisible ultra matt polyurethane protection coating that retains the natural colour, grain, look and feel of your timber.
Almost Invisible Protection
Traditional interior wood coatings can change the appearance and colour of timber, sometimes making it appear artificial and detracting from the wood’s natural beauty. Many of these coatings increase the gloss level in order to improve cleaning and chemical resistance properties.
CUTEK® Interior is different.
By using state of the art innovative and novel technologies, CUTEK® Interior provides the robust protection of a polyurethane coating whilst keeping the natural, ultra matt look and feel of natural wood. Additionally, CUTEK® Interior resists polishing effect, even though it is an ultra matt coating. CUTEK® Interior does not hide or mask timber, it simply protects it.
Safe And User Friendly
CUTEK® Interior has been formulated using advanced renewable materials to be low VOC and low odour. It is fast drying, minimising waiting time between coats and is incredibly easy to use. Any beginner can easily achieve a high-class professional finish. Any maintenance, if required, is fast and simple.
